As several Bollywood and cricketing stars rallied around the government in its pushback to the global celebrities meddling in the farmers' protest against Centre's 3 contentious farm laws, actor Taapsee Pannu called out the 'counter' celebrity campaign to Rihanna's tweet.
The actor who had always been vocal about her political opinions took to Twitter and said, "If one tweet rattles your unity, one joke rattles your faith or one show rattles your religious belief then it's you who has to work on strengthening your value system not become 'propaganda teacher' for others."
Many social media users took offence at what they saw as foreign interference. The Indian government too released a statement condemning celebrities who have spoken out about the farmers' protest on social media calling it "propaganda".
Soon after, celebs such as Akshay Kumar, Karan Johar, Ajay Devgn and others tweeted messages in support of the government with similar wording and the hashtags #IndiaTogether and #IndiaAgainstPorpaganda, which the government had used in its statement.
Besides Rihanna and Thunberg, Meena Harris, an American lawyer and niece of US Vice President Kamala Harris, actor Amanda Cerni, singers Jay Sean, Dr Zeus and former adult star Mia Khalifa voiced their support to the protesting farmers.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said "no propaganda" can deter India's unity or stop the country from attaining new heights as several of Bollywood celebrities urged people to be wary of false propaganda.
Soon after tweet by Taapsee, Kangana Ranaut jumped in and once again called Taapsee a 'sasti copy' while she slammed her.
Kangana tweeted, "B grade logon ki B grade thinking, one should stand up for one’s faith motherland and family, yehi Karm hai yehi Dharm bhi hai… free fund ka sirf khaane wale mat bano… iss desh ka bojh… that’s why I call them B grade… ignore them, freeloaders…"
She also wrote, "Yeah her only achievement is it be a sasti copy… Since she styled herself like me people started noticing her, librus are happy to find not just sasti also atrocious, ugly and more than willing to be anti-national as well, Never saw such a wannabe, desperate and clueless moron…"
