Taapsee Pannu Denies Ever Targeting Kangana Ranaut, Responds To Sasti Copy Tag – ‘If She’s Such a Brilliant Actress…’

Taapsee Pannu clarifies there was never a fight with Kangana Ranaut and responds to being called a “cheap copy.” Read to know what she said!

For years, the media and fans have talked about a rivalry between Taapsee Pannu and Kangana Ranaut. But the actor recently clarified that there was never a fight. Speaking on a podcast, Taapsee claimed that she has never spoken against Kangana.

Taapsee Pannu On Her Equation With Kangana Ranaut

While promoting her upcoming courtroom drama Assi on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, Taapsee addressed the alleged feud directly:

She said, “I don’t know when I ever fought. A fight happens when two people clash. I never clashed. You tell me – have I ever said even a single line against her? Her sister called me a ‘cheap copy.’ She said that since I don’t earn as much money here, that makes me cheap. If she is such a brilliant actress, I have no problem being called her copy. You can take out any statement of mine – I haven’t said anything against her.”

The ‘cheap copy’ remark was made years ago by Kangana’s sister, Rangoli Chandel, and many believed it created tension. However, neither Taapsee nor Kangana has publicly commented on each other.

Taapsee also reflected on how such rumours may have benefited others in the industry: She added, “I don’t know about them, but someone or the other must have benefited in some way. Like I said, from my side, there was never any fight. But I do feel that someone must have gained from it.”

Taapsee And Kangana’s Work Front

Taapsee is currently starring in Assi, a courtroom drama directed by Anubhav Sinha. The film, also featuring Kani Kusruti, has received praise for its performances, especially from the lead actors. Following this, Taapsee will appear in the Netflix film Gandhari, adding to her growing and varied filmography.

Meanwhile, Kangana was last seen in the 2025 political thriller Emergency, in which she portrayed Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film, which she also directed, did not fare well critically or commercially. Kangana’s next project is Bharatha Bhhagya Vidhata, a political thriller set to release later this year.
