Tamil director and national awardee SP Jananathan dies

National Award winning director SP Jananathan died at 10 am on Sunday morning at Apollo Hospital, Chennai.

A few days ago he was found lying unconscious in his house after which he was admitted to the hospital where he was undergoing treatment. According to director Arumugkumar, he suffered a cardiac arrest today, following which he died.

SP Jananathan was one of the most equitable directors in the Tamil film industry. He was 61 years old and recently he was found unconscious in his house. After this, he was admitted to a nearby hospital where doctors told him to be seriously ill. He died at Apollo Hospital in Chennai on Sunday morning. Famous personalities from various fields have expressed their condolences on his demise.

SP Jananathan made his Tamil film Iyarakai debut in 2003. The film was awarded the National Award. SP Jananathan is known for making films on social issues. His other films are E and Penaramai. His next film is Labam. It is a political drama. It is a film. It stars Vijay Sethupathi and Shruti Haasan in the lead. This will be his second film with Vijay Sethupathi. Prior to this he has worked in Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai.
