The controversy comes at a time when the actor is reportedly going through divorce proceedings with his wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam.
The viral video shows Vijay and Trisha arriving together at the wedding reception of producer Kalpathi Suresh and Meenakshi’s son. Vijay, who recently entered politics, wore a traditional outfit and carried a bouquet. Trisha looked elegant in a cream saree with a golden border. The two also posed for photographs with the newlyweds.
However, the moment quickly went viral and triggered strong reactions online. Many users questioned whether the public appearance was appropriate, considering the serious allegations surrounding Vijay’s personal life.

Noted producer and critic G Dhananjheyan shared his thoughts on social media. Although he did not mention Thalapathy Vijay or Trisha Krishnan directly, many believe his comments were about the ongoing controversy. In his post, he referred to a famous dialogue from Spider-Man and highlighted the responsibility that comes with fame.
He wrote, “With great power/popularity comes great responsibility”… popular dialogue in the film ‘Spider-Man’. People with huge popularity carry great responsibility to set a good example for common people on how to lead a honest and respectful life for them to follow. When that’s ignored, everyone loses their respect for them.”
He also spoke about the importance of family values. According to him, public figures must think about the impact their actions have on their followers. The producer added, “For every person, Family comes first. When family is taken for granted and abused (mentally or emotionally), the love and respect for them gets lost. Such acts can’t be normalised or justified under any circumstances.”
Dhananjheyan further admitted that the situation had disturbed him. He wrote, “Being a strong family-oriented person, I am disturbed by a few leading actors setting the wrong example through their acts, for their millions of fans and followers”.
Thalapathy Vijay And Wife Sangeetha’s Divorce
Vijay’s personal life has been under intense attention after reports claimed that his wife Sangeetha Sornalingam filed for divorce on February 27 in the Chengalpattu family court in Chennai. According to the petition, she accused the actor of infidelity and claimed he was involved in an “adulterous relationship” with an actress.
The petition states, “In April 2021, the Petitioner (Sangeetha) discovered that the Respondent (Vijay) was involved in an adulterous relationship with an actress. This caused her deep emotional pain and mental suffering, amounting to betrayal and violation of marital trust.”
It further alleges that Thalapathy Vijay continued to associate with the actress despite the emotional distress it caused his family.
