The Batman star Robert Pattinson tests positive for Covid-19, production halted

British actor Robert Pattinson, who will be donning the cap of the Batman, has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, the US media reported.

The shooting for the much-anticipated film, The Batman, has halted once again, days after it resumed following the coronavirus outbreak.

Warner Bros, the makers of the film, shared the information in an official statement without revealing the name. “A member of The Batman production has tested positive for Covid-19, and is isolating in accordance with established protocols. Filming is temporarily paused," the statement read.

The Vanity Fair, Hollywood reporters and Variety among others have claimed that a highly placed source related to the film has confirmed that Pattinson is the said person in the statement.

Vanity Fair said British actor Pattinson, 34, caught the virus days after shooting resumed near London, after a six-month delay to filming.

The shooting of the film began in Glasgow earlier this year but was suspended after the coronavirus pandemic took over the world.

The new adaptation, directed by Planet of the Apes Filmmaker Matt Reeves, recently dropped the much-waited trailer of the film wherein Batman was showed to be in his second year of vigilantism. While critics initially doubted Pattinson's potential to play the Caped Crusader, trailer of the film gave rest to all the doubts with actor receiving high praises from one and all.

The Batman was initially due for release in June 2021 but has been delayed to October 2021.

Meanwhile, Pattinson co-starrer film, Tenet, which is currently running in theatres, has been touted as the first Blockbuster of post covid era.
