The Kerala Story 2 Box Office Collection Day 2: Amid uncertainty, The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond finally reached cinemas. A last-minute court-mandated stay had delayed its release. However, shows resumed in parts of India from Friday evening.
Despite protests in some regions (especially in Kerala), the film recorded a BIG jump in collections on Day 2. The buzz around the sequel has translated into better footfall, at least for now.
Let’s take a closer look at The Kerala Story 2 Box Office numbers.
The Kerala Story 2 Box Office Collection Day 2
The delayed release affected the film’s opening day earnings. On Friday, the sequel collected only Rs 0.75 cr. However, Saturday brought strong growth. On Day 2, The Kerala Story 2 earned Rs 4.65 crore.
This is a sharp rise from Day 1 and shows that audience interest remains steady. In two days, the film has collected Rs 5.40 crore at the Indian box office.
Moreover, the lack of major new releases helped the film gain momentum. Still, Sunday will be crucial. Trade experts believe evening collections could dip because of India’s important T20 World Cup match. Big cricket games often impact theatre attendance, especially during prime time.
While the Saturday jump looks positive, the sequel is still far behind the original film. On its second day, The Kerala Story had earned Rs 11 crore. That is nearly 57% higher than the sequel’s Day 2 figure. In fact, the first film had almost reached Rs 20 crore within just two days of release.
In comparison, The Kerala Story 2 is yet to cross the Rs 10 crore mark. This gap clearly shows how difficult it is for sequels to match the success of a blockbuster original.
