The Kerala Story 2 Controversy: ‘Nafrat Ki Baat, Bilkul Jhooth…’ Ayesha Takia’s FIL And Samajwadi Party’s Abu Asim Azmi Opposes Its Release

The Kerala Story 2 controversy grows as Abu Asim Azmi and Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan oppose the film. Check their reactions!

The Kerala Story 2 Controversy: The trailer launch of The Kerala Story 2 has sparked strong reactions across social media and political circles. Within hours, the film began trending online. While some viewers called it propaganda, others described it as a hard-hitting reality. Amid the debate, political leaders also stepped in with their views.

One of the most talked-about reactions came from Abu Asim Azmi, senior Samajwadi Party leader and father-in-law of actor Ayesha Takia. Azmi openly opposed the film’s narrative and questioned its portrayal.

Abu Asim Azmi Slams The Kerala Story 2

Speaking to IANS, Azmi strongly criticised the themes suggested in the trailer. He stated, “Yeh toh sab nafrat ki baat hai, sab jhoothi baat hai. Sab jhooth hai ke Musalman, Hindu ko pakadta hai aur fasata hai. Bilkul jhooth hai. Agar koi sabarjasti shaadi karta hai, toh usko zaroor saza di jaaye. Par sabarjasti koi fasata nahi hai. Yeh sab jo hai, woh sirf aur sirf Musalmano ko taklif dene ki baat hai.”

He also spoke about the wider social impact of such films. Azmi added, “Agar koi Hindu ladki se Muslim ne shaadi kiya toh usko aap maar dalenge jaanse, usko barbaad kar denge. Desh samvidhaan se chalna chahiye. Yeh jo mann maani chal rahi hai desh mein, main samajh raha hu paani sar se ucha ho raha hai.”

Kerala CM Also Reacts To The Kerala Story 2 Controversy

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also criticised the sequel. In an official statement, Vijayan accused the makers of spreading misinformation. He said, “They are spreading false propaganda by portraying even marriages conducted with mutual consent as examples of communalism and forced religious conversion.”

This is not the first time the franchise has faced criticism. The original film had already triggered heated debates. However, the sequel seems to be drawing even stronger reactions ahead of its release.

About The Sequel

Despite the controversy, the film is scheduled to release in theatres on February 27, 2026. Vipul Amrutlal Shah produces the sequel under Sunshine Pictures. National Award-winning director Kamakhya Narayan Singh takes charge this time.

The film introduces a fresh lead cast, including Ulka Gupta, Aditi Bhatia and Aishwarya Ojha. They play three Hindu women whose lives take a dark turn after falling in love with Muslim men.

According to the makers, the story unfolds through three parallel narratives:

  • A Rajasthan family filing a POCSO complaint
  • A Madhya Pradesh woman trapped in a deceptive marriage
  • A Kerala woman facing pressure after refusing conversion

The filmmakers claim the plot draws inspiration from documented court cases. They say the film aims to expose what they describe as an “organised agenda of religious conversion.”
