The Legend of Maula Jatt, Pakistan's biggest motion feature, is living up to its name with a legendary performance at the box office. The Fawad Khan and Mahir Khan movie, which debuted on October 13th, has earned PKR 220 crores ($10 million) worldwide during its seven-week box office run. PKR 87.50 crores ($3.98 million) comes from the domestic market, while PKR 132.50 crores ($6 million) comes from international markets.
Whether it is Pakistan, America, the Gulf, or Europe, Maula Jatt is the highest grossing film in Pakistani cinema history and has surpassed the previous record in the majority of those markets. Maula Jatt has already treble the previous record-holder for highest-grossing Pakistani film, Jawani Phir Nhi Aani 2, which had earned PKR 73 crores globally. The action movie in Punjabi is also the highest grossing Punjabi movie ever, surpassing its Indian counterparts Chaar Sahibzaade and Carry on Jatta 2 ($9 million and $8.50 million, respectively).
The Legend Maula Jatt rumored to be released in India on December
In a number of foreign markets, Jatt is outperforming Bollywood movies. With £1.39 million in the UK, the movie outperformed other high-profile movies like Sanju, Ponniyin Selvan, Race 3, Zero, KGF 2, RRR, and more to become South Asia's largest grosser since Padmaavat in 2018. In Norway, the movie surpasses Bajrangi Bhaijaan in terms of box office revenue. There are rumours that the movie will be released on December 23 in India, although there has been no official confirmation of this. Since 2019, there has been a formal unofficial prohibition on cultural interaction between the two nations, while some Punjabi films from India have recently been able to be released in Pakistan.
