They Call Him OG Box Office Collection Day 5: Pawan Kalyan Starrer Crashes On Monday, Will Kantara Chapter 1 Release Affect It Further?

They Call Him OG witnessed a big drop on Monday and earned just Rs 7.5 crore. The film will soon face tough competition from Kantara Chapter 1 and other new releases.

Sujeeth’s action drama They Call Him OG, starring Pawan Kalyan and Emraan Hashmi, opened to strong numbers over the weekend. But on Monday, the film saw a big drop of more than 60%. The collections were expected to grow on Saturday and Saturday, but that did not happen. Now, another big drop on Monday is shocking as the collection wasn’t in double digits any more.

Industry tracker Sacnilk reported Monday’s earnings at Rs 7.5 crore, down from Rs 18.50 crore on both Saturday and Sunday. The opening day on Thursday was the highest, with Rs 63.75 crore, including paid previews that earned Rs 21 crore.

After five days, the film has earned Rs 147.7 crore domestically. It is close to the Rs 150 crore mark, but it needs steady collections this week to recover its Rs 250 crore budget. Worldwide, They Call Him OG has crossed Rs 200 crore, making it Pawan Kalyan’s first film to reach this milestone. Despite this, Monday’s drop raises questions about how the film will perform in the long run.

Will Kantara Chapter 1 Release Affect It Further?

Most of the earnings came from the original Telugu version. The dubbed Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada versions contributed less. This Thursday, the film faces competition from Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1, a prequel to the 2022 Kannada hit Kantara. Experts are curious to see if Shetty’s film will affect They Call Him OG’s collections.

In the Hindi market, the film is still doing better than Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound, starring Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor, which is India’s official Oscars entry this year. But another challenge comes from Dharma Productions’ romantic comedy Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, starring Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Dhawan, also releasing this Thursday.
