The latest Toxic poster has once again stirred strong reactions online. Yash’s upcoming film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups continues to face scrutiny every time a new character look is released. While the makers aim to build intrigue, many fans feel the posters are raising more questions than excitement.

On Tuesday, Yash and director Geetu Mohandas unveiled the first look of actor Rukmini Vasanth from the film. She has been introduced as Mellisa, a key character in the story. The poster was shared across social media platforms and quickly became a talking point, but not entirely for positive reasons.

Rukmini Vasanth’s Look As Mellisa In Latest Toxic Poster

Yash shared the Toxic poster on social media and wrote, “Introducing Rukmini Vasanth @rukminitweets as MELLISA in – A Toxic Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups.” The visual shows Rukmini in a bold avatar that is very different from her usual girl-next-door roles.

In the poster, she is seen wearing a blue dress with a thigh-high slit. Her hair is styled in a polished coiffure. She sports soft, dewy makeup. The setting appears to be a smoky party space, adding a sense of mystery to her character. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh also shared the poster as part of paid promotions.

While the look grabbed attention, it also invited criticism. Several users questioned the creative choices behind the posters. Some even claimed the visuals looked AI-generated. This concern has followed the film since earlier character reveals.

Rukmini’s Toxic Poster Sparks Honey Trap Speculation

As reactions poured in, many netizens began speculating about the film’s theme. A section of viewers linked the repeated introduction of female characters to a possible honey trap angle. In cinema, this theme often involves emotional, sexual or romantic manipulation to trap a target.

Check out some user comments below:
“Why are so many actresses in toxic……..?”
“Why does the Toxic movie seem to be a soft-porn type movie?”
“There are more? What the hell is going on? The guy is having Toxic relationships with 5-6 ladies in the movie.”
“Toxic’s poster designer should be fired, or it is AI-generated, actresses are holding purses with fingers rather than hands?”
“Is it a movie about the Honey trap theme? Till date, not even a single good content from the movie team.”
“Movie name should be Khichdi.”

Despite the backlash, Geetu Mohandas strongly backed Rukmini’s casting. The director shared her first look on Instagram Stories and wrote, “What I admire most about Rukmini is her intelligence as an actor. She doesn’t just perform, she processes. She asks questions, not out of doubt but out of curiosity. It pushes me to think deeper, and sometimes even my own choices as a director. Watching her work reminds me that intelligence on screen often lies in what is left unsaid.”

She also spoke about Rukmini’s process on set and added, “Between shots, I often see her quietly writing in her journal, capturing thoughts, small anecdotes from the set. Those moments say a lot about her process. She is constantly building her own inner world. I find her approach incredibly thoughtful, and at times, I honestly wish I could steal those pages and read through them, just to understand the mind behind such a layered performance. I love you @rukmini_vasanth.”
