Tollywood star Mahesh Babu turned 50 today, and the celebrations came with a big surprise for his fans. Director SS Rajamouli shared a long-awaited update on their upcoming film SSMB 29. The movie also stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran and is being described as one of Rajamouli’s most ambitious projects yet.
Rajamouli confirmed that the first reveal of the film will happen in November 2025. The poster he shared also showed a Lord Shiva locket, which has fuelled speculation about the movie’s mythological connection.
SS Rajamouli And Mahesh Babu’s SSMB 29 Titled Globe Trotter?
In his post, Rajamouli thanked fans for their patience and explained why no sneak peeks were released on Mahesh Babu’s birthday.
He wrote, “Dear Cinema Lovers in India and around the world, as well as fans of Mahesh, It has been a while since we began shooting, and we appreciate your eagerness to know about the film. However, the story and scope of this film are so vast that I feel mere pictures or press conferences cannot do it justice.”
He added, “We are currently working on something to showcase the essence, depth, and immersive world we are creating. This will be unveiled in November 2025, and we are trying to make it a NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN reveal. Thank you all for your patience. – SS Rajamouli.”
According to his post, the film is claimed to be titled Globe Trotter.

Mahesh Babu reposted the announcement and wrote, “Thank you for all the love… I am eagerly waiting, as you all are, for November 2025 to enjoy the reveal with all of you. #GlobeTrotter.”
SSMB 29 Aka Globe Trotter Has Lord Shiva Connection
Reports suggest that Globetrotter could be rooted in Indian history and mythology, possibly drawing inspiration from the sacred city of Kashi (Varanasi), a place closely linked with Lord Shiva. The huge set built in Hyderabad, reportedly recreating ancient Kashi, has added to these rumours.
While the makers have not confirmed the storyline, a Tanzanian media report claims the movie follows a “rugged explorer” on a high-stakes mission through wild and dangerous landscapes. The story is said to blend thrilling action with ancient legends, in a style inspired by Indiana Jones and classic African adventure films.
