Uorfi Javed: Actress and reality show star Uorfi Javed is never far from controversy. If she is not in news because of her bold looks, she is making headlines with her controversial statements. On Thursday Urfi reacted to a news report about the demand to change the name of Lucknow to Lakshmanpuri. After her tweet received mean reactions, she took to Twitter to declare that she is an atheist. "I do not follow Islam or any religion as a matter of fact," she wrote.

On February 9, a politician had demanded that the name of Uttar Pradesh should be changed from Lucknow to Lakshmanpuri. In reaction, Urfi commented, "Faida batao koi Iska? I want to stay in a democratic rashtra! Neither Hindu rashtra nor Muslim rashtra," she had stated. Her statement irked netizens who posted nasty comments against the Splitsvilla 14 contestant.
Later, Urfi took to the micro-blogging site to remind everyone that she is an atheist and doesn't follow Islam.
Urfi reacts to mean tweets
After some netizens trolled her, she tweeted, "Before the Hindu extremists start attacking me let me tell y’all , I do not follow Islam or any religion as a matter of fact . I just don’t want people to fight because of their religion."
Reacting to Urfi's above tweet, a Twitter user wrote, "They don’t care how religious you are, so no point in proudly distancing yourself from Islam to please them. Your name, like the skin color in west, is enough to be considered an ‘other’. Take a stand, because even your queen Kangana won’t come to save you." To this, the Meri Durga actress responded, "I’m an atheist , there you go - my stand!"
When a netizen warned her against cracking jokes about 'Mohammed', Urfi replied, "I don’t follow Islam, how is that a joke on Mohammed? Now you must be joking."
Trollers be damned
Meanwhile, a troll didn't mince words while attacking Urfi. "Genuinely speaking (without any hatred), I want this woman and women like her to land in Afghanistan & similar countries. That would be so much fun," they wrote.
Not to stay quiet, Urfi gave a befitting reply. "Genuinely speaking (without hatred) I want fake ids like yours who want violence against women to face the same consequences," she commented.
