Uunchai Movie Review: Sooraj Barjatya proves his magic with ace actors of Bollywood

Uunchai Movie Review: Sooraj Barjatya is back with ‘Uunchai’, the film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Danny Denzongpa, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Neena Gupta and Sarika. The story starts with Bhupen (Danny Denzongpa), who has the dream of going on a trek to Mount Everest with his friends Amit (Amitabh Bachchan), Om (Anupam Kher), and Javed (Boman Irani). The challenge of the trek is their age as the four friends are now senior citizens. But their idea of climbing Mount Everest starts working when they lose their friend Bhupen. They get motivation from their friendship and decide to go on this trek to fulfill the last wish of their best friend. They are joined by Mala (Sarika) in their journey but do they succeed? You have to watch Uunchai to know about it.

What’s Interesting?

The best thing of Sooraj Barjatya is that he maintains magic, simplicity and innocence in his films and the same happened with Uunchai. The ace director has complete knowledge to shape a craft and the emotions he adds to his films make us believe in the journey of Amit, Om, Mala and Javed. The first half of Uunchai will give you relief. Humor of the movie is the main element. Sooraj Barjatya layers the story with emotions and manages to give closure to all of them. The movie will make you laugh, smile, cry as the performances of the entire cast is very solid. The movie remarks the comeback of Sarika and Danny Denzongpa on the big screen.

Keti will give you a smile with his background music. The soft and smooth music fills the emotions. Sooraj Barjatya’s films gives message to live together but this film talks about living independently and the director aces in this one also.

What’s not interesting?

Uunchai is 20 minutes longer than it’s time. The first half flows smoothly but the second half is a little bit slow and that’s the reason the film is 20 minutes longer. There’s a 25-minute episode to describe Amitabh Bachchan’s character but it goes off track. It seems like that element was added because makers wanted to show his character as special one. But it can be better without adding that element.

Performances of the actors

This is the first collaboration of Amitabh Bachchan and Sooraj Barjatya, undoubtedly the Shehanshah of Bollywood aces with his character. Anupam Kher is also fantastic as OM and his character is totally different from his age but Anupam portrayed the best. Boman Irani does well as Javed and the chemistry between Neena Gupta and Boman Irani is a relief. Their romance has an pure old-school vibe and you can’t stop yourself from smiling. Sarika also done his comeback with perfection and Danny Denzongpa is a surprise package for the audience.
