Varanasi Release Date: Buzz around SS Rajamouli’s upcoming film Varanasi has grown stronger, just days after Prabhas’ Spirit officially announced its release date. The Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra Jonas starrer has been in the news for months, and fresh reports now suggest that the makers may soon reveal its release date.

Many believe the announcement could come on the auspicious occasion of Sri Rama Navami, adding to the excitement.

Varanasi Release Date Announcement Coming?

According to a report by 123 Telugu, the makers have already locked April 9, 2027, for the theatrical release of Varanasi. However, there is no official confirmation yet.

Industry buzz suggests that a special update could be announced on March 26, 2026, which coincides with Sri Rama Navami. Given Rajamouli’s habit of choosing meaningful dates for major announcements, this has only raised expectations among fans.

Excitement around Varanasi reached another level after its teaser made history internationally. The teaser was first unveiled at the grand GlobeTrotter event in Hyderabad on November 15. Later, it was screened at the iconic Le Grand Rex theatre in Paris on January 5. This marked the first time an Indian film teaser was showcased at the historic venue, making it a proud moment for Indian cinema.

What the Teaser Reveals

The teaser gives a powerful glimpse of Mahesh Babu’s character, Rudhra. He is seen holding a trishul, covered in blood, and riding a bull, hinting at an intense and action-packed story. Priyanka Chopra Jonas plays Mandakini, while Prithviraj Sukumaran appears as the antagonist, Kumbha. Their first-look posters were released earlier and received strong praise online.

The film’s music is composed by Oscar-winning composer MM Keeravani, while the story is written by V Vijayendra Prasad. The team promises a grand cinematic experience that blends mythology, adventure, and spectacle.

Earlier, a report by The Citizen from Tanzania described Varanasi as a large-scale adventure film with global stakes. According to the publication, the story centres on a tough explorer who takes on a dangerous enemy to protect the world. Drawing inspiration from Indiana Jones and classic African adventure films, the narrative follows his perilous journey through unknown lands, where he must face harsh terrain, deep mysteries and powerful forces in search of an ancient secret that could change everything.
