Veteran actor Sulochana Latkar passes away at 94, last rites to be held on June 5

Sulochana, a veteran actress who appeared in over 250 Hindi and 50 Marathi films, died on Sunday at the age of 94 owing to age-related ailments. Kanchan Ghanekar, her daughter, confirmed her death to Indianexpress.com, saying, “She had age-related health issues and breathing difficulties. She died at 6 p.m. this evening.” Her ‘antim darshan’ will be held at her Prabhadevi mansion in the city. Her cremation will take place at the Shivaji Park crematorium on Monday at 5:30 p.m.

Sulochana started her career in Marathi films

Sulochana began her career in Marathi films in the early 1940s and quickly transferred to Hindi films, where she played various mother roles in famous films such as Shammi Kapoor’s Dil Dekhe Dekho, Dilip Kumar’s Aadmi, and Dev Anand’s Jhonny Mera Naam. Kora Kagaz, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar (in which she played Vinod Khanna’s mother), Himmatwala, and Andar Baahar (in which she played Jackie Shroff’s mother) are among her other movies.

The actress worked with Dev Anand and Rajesh Khanna

She was very famous for her acting skills and received a lot of positive reviews for her mother’s roles as she nailed every one of them. Sulochana appeared in a number of films starring Dev Anand, including Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai, Duniya, and Amir Garib, in which she played his mother or a cousin. The actor also worked extensively with Rajesh Khanna, appearing in films such as Bahraon Ke Sapne, Kati Patang, Mere Jeevan Saathi, Prem Nagar, and Adhikar.
