Viral Video: ‘Kya Jahil Log Hain…’ Rajinikanth Fan Slammed For Mocking Religion, Worships Actor With A Photo Of Him Dressed As Lord Shiva

Rajinikanth Fan Viral Video: Rajinikanth is one of India’s most celebrated film stars with a fan following that borders on devotion. However, a recent viral video of a fan performing Maha Shivratri pooja with a picture of Rajinikanth dressed as Lord Shiva has sparked criticism online.

In the video, the fan (named Karthik) pours milk and other offerings over the image while chanting prayers. His home reportedly has a small temple dedicated to the superstar. The photo used for the pooja is from Rajinikanth’s film Uzhaippali, where he portrayed Lord Shiva.

Rajinikanth Fan Viral Video Sparks Outrage

The video quickly caught attention on social media, but not everyone appreciated the gesture. Many users expressed anger, feeling it mocked the sanctity of the festival.

Sharing the now-viral video, ANI wrote, “Karthik, a fan of Rajinikanth from Madurai, performed a special Maha Shivaratri pooja in a unique way by offering prayers at a temple he built inside his residence in honour of the superstar.”

Reacting to the clip, A user commented, “Omg. So much fools are there here. Even Rajini will laugh seeing it.” Another wrote, “Kya jahil log hai mahadev ka jagah koi nhi le sakta hai.” A third added, “Band karo bhai ye sab, yese hi log dharma ka mazak udate hai, upar se ye sab, idiots.”

Speaking to ANI, Karthik defended his actions and said, “This was the third consecutive year that Shivaratri pooja was being conducted. The image of Rajinikanth in Lord Shiva’s appearance from the film Uzhaippali was used for the rituals and adorned with a garland made of 500 vadais to honour the actor’s 50-year journey in cinema…”

Rajinikanth’s Upcoming Projects

Despite the controversy surrounding his fans, Rajinikanth continues to make headlines with his film career. After Coolie, he is currently shooting for Nelson Dilipkumar’s Jailer 2, slated for a theatrical release around June 2026.

Additionally, the superstar has Thalaivar 173 lined up, produced by Kamal Haasan and directed by Cibi Chakravarti, scheduled for Pongal 2027. Fans are also buzzing about a potential reunion with legendary director Mani Ratnam, marking their first collaboration since the 1991 classic Thalapathi.
