Jr NTR marks his Bollywood debut alongside Hrithik in this Yash Raj Films (YRF) spy universe instalment, directed by Ayan Mukherjee and featuring Kiara Advani in the lead female role.

Within just a few hours of opening advance ticket sales, War 2 grossed around Rs 78.53 lakh across India. The Hindi 2D version led the collections with over Rs 71 lakh from 17,684 tickets sold. Tamil and Telugu 2D versions earned Rs 1.71 lakh and Rs 2.33 lakh respectively, while the Hindi IMAX 2D format contributed Rs 3.06 lakh from 410 tickets.
In total, about 20,285 tickets were sold across 4,509 shows. Including blocked seats, the advance booking value hit approximately Rs 3.19 crore. (at the time of writing) This strong opening signals high anticipation among audiences nationwide.
Screen Count And Distribution Battle In Telugu States
War 2 will release on approximately 5,000 screens for its Hindi version, a milestone usually reserved for very few films. This large screen count suggests a blockbuster opening is expected. However, the battle heats up in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, where War 2 and Coolie compete for prime time screens.
Sources reveal that while Asian Cinemas, backing Coolie, is pushing for a 40 percent screen share, exhibitors favour War 2 due to Junior NTR’s immense local popularity.
A trade insider told Bollywood Hungama, “NTR Jr. is an influential personality, same for Naga Vamsi [producer of Coolie]. No one wants to upset them. But the face-off will end soon with War 2 securing about 62 percent of screens, leaving Coolie with 38 percent.”
Sithara Entertainment (South distributor of War 2) aims for an even bigger share of 70 percent.
In North India and Telugu states, War 2 seems ready to dominate screen space and audience attention. Jr NTR’s star power and YRF’s marketing muscle are giving War 2 a strong edge over Coolie, which is releasing with fewer screens in Telugu regions. The ultimate winner will depend on audience response after release.
YRF’s Spy Universe Expands With War 2
This sequel is the latest chapter in Yash Raj Films’ successful spy universe, which began with Ek Tha Tiger and expanded with hits like Tiger Zinda Hai and War. Hrithik Roshan reprises his role as Major Kabir Dhaliwal.
The trailer promises thrilling action and intense clashes, especially between Hrithik and Jr NTR. Meanwhile, stars like Shah Rukh Khan (Pathaan), Salman Khan (Tiger 3), Alia Bhatt, and Sharvari Wagh (Alpha) continue to expand this cinematic world. Reports suggest Pathaan Vs Tiger is already in pre-production.
