War 2 is gearing up for its grand release, but makers have made some last-minute changes before that. Yes, the action thriller starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR has been shortened by 13 minutes, trimming its runtime from 183 minutes to 170 minutes.
According to a source close to Mid-day, the first version was sent to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) earlier this month while the visual effects were still being completed. The insider revealed, “There has been a significant 13-minute reduction. A longer, raw cut was submitted to ensure that the film reaches international territories in a timely fashion, while the VFX work was still being finalised. The shorter theatrical cut is now much more aligned with the makers’ original vision.”
The decision was made to keep the second half fast-paced and maintain tension without unnecessary slow moments. CBFC cleared the earlier cut on August 6, but the updated version will now be resubmitted.
War 2 Post-Credit Scene To Also Feature Shah Rukh Khan And Salman Khan?
According to this source, the makers will also send a separate post-credit scene for clearance. While official details remain under wraps, industry chatter suggests it could feature Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Alia Bhatt and Sharvari.
Reports indicate Alia and Sharvari’s cameo in the climax will pave the way for Alpha, another entry in the YRF Spy Universe. Meanwhile, Salman and SRK’s appearance could either tease Tiger vs Pathaan or show Kabir (Hrithik), Tiger (Salman), and Pathaan (SRK) introducing the new female agents to the team. Fans will have to wait for confirmation.

The first song, Aavan Jaavan, added a romantic touch. Filmed in Italy, it features Hrithik and Kiara in scenic backdrops. Kiara’s bright yellow dress, reportedly worth Rs 1.5 lakh, caught social media attention, while a video of Hrithik’s mother dancing to the song went viral.
The latest glimpse of the second song, Janaab-e-Aali, teased a high-energy dance battle between Hrithik and Jr NTR. Drawing comparisons to Jai Jai Shivshankar from the first War, the complete track will only be unveiled in cinemas.
Future Of The YRF Spy Universe
Besides War 2, YRF has multiple spy projects in the pipeline, including Alpha, Tiger vs Pathaan, Pathaan 2, and a prequel on John Abraham’s character, Jim. Jr NTR’s character from War 2 is also expected to get a standalone film, but much will depend on the box office performance of War 2 and Alpha.
