Watch: Alia Bhatt-starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi teaser

The teaser of the long-awaited Alia Bhatt-starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi unveiled today on 58th birth anniversary of director Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Alia is seen in a never-seen-before look - as the owner of a brothel in Kamathipura, the red light area of Mumbai. She spells power, unafraid of the police or politician. She champions the right to live with respect, irrespective of any labels that may be attached to a person.

Gangubai Kathiawadi is based on one of the chapters of acclaimed author Hussain Zaidi’s book, Mafia Queens of Mumbai.

In the short teaser, Alia Bhatt is seen as Gangubai, who is independent, feisty, outspoken and a strong individual. In the words of film, she was, and will always be “the moon”.

From the short teaser it's quite clear that actress Alia Bhatt have worked alot on her body language and dialect to portray the character of a madam of the brothel who originally came from the Kathiawad region of Gujarat.

Announcing the new release date of Gangubai Kathiawadi on social media , Bhatt shared a new poster of the film, in which she can be seen sporting a pastel green traditional outfit, a bindi with her hair styled in a side braid. "In cinemas July 30, 2021," the actress wrote in the caption of her post with a heart icon.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who is known for his grand cinema and excellent filmmaking sense, yet again impressed his fans with the teaser of Gangubai Kathiawadi. It promises to be one of the most exciting and interesting projects helmed by the director.

The film will mark the 10th directorial of cinema maestro and looks like it will one of his best works so far. The background score in the teaser like his other movies has already begun to be the talk of the town. Fans are in awe of the gifted filmmaker's music compositions.

Gangubai Kathiawadi also features Ajay Devgn, who plays the role of a mobster. He eventually falls in love with Gangubai while teaching her the tricks of the trade. Alia and Ajay will also be seen together in SS Rajamouli's RRR.
