Aryan Khan had a much-talked-about debut as a writer and director. The Ba***ds of Bollywood has become one of the most-streamed Indian shows of the year. This satirical action-drama dropped on Netflix on September 18 and has been gaining attention ever since, with clips from the show going viral across social media. Now, after its record-breaking success, Aryan has shared a heartfelt note about the journey and what the series means to him.
Aryan Khan Shares First Statement After His Series’ Success
Speaking about the challenges of creating his first show, Aryan said, “Whenever things got difficult, I’d hear Jaraj’s voice in my head, ‘Haarne mein aur haar maanne mein bohot farak hota hai.’ At first, I thought it was motivation, but soon realised it was just a lack of sleep and fatigue. Still, that vision kept me going, and now to see the happiness my work has brought people is deeply emotional for me… it is why I do what I do, it is what drew me to storytelling.”
Reflecting on the overwhelming global response, he added, “The love from around the world has been incredible, with the show trending across countries and filling timelines with reels, memes, and fan theories. What began as my story now truly belongs to the audience, and it’s only because of Netflix that this story could reach homes across the globe. As Jaraj would humbly say… Ab pehchana?”
What Is Ba***ds Of Bollywood About?
The Ba***ds of Bollywood is a sharp, witty take on the Hindi film industry. Aryan Khan dives into the glamour and chaos of Bollywood, exploring everything from contracts and ego clashes to nepotism, rivalries, and dramatic cameos.
The story follows Aasmaan Singh, played by Lakshya Lalwani, a young actor from Delhi who lands his first big break with a hit film. Soon, he signs a multi-film contract with producer Freddy Sodawallah, but fame brings new challenges. Aasmaan faces romance, backlash, politics, and the constant pressure of the industry. His on-screen pairing with Karishma, the daughter of veteran actor Ajay Talvar, further fuels drama both on and off the set.
The show balances satire and slapstick with emotional moments, blending over-the-top antics with realistic issues from the film industry. Cameos from big names like Karan Johar, Ranbir Kapoor, Salman Khan, and even Aamir Khan only add to the fun.
Since its release, the series has dominated Netflix charts, breaking into the top 10 in India and ranking high in countries like Bangladesh, the Maldives and the UAE. Its reach has gone far beyond streaming, with social media buzzing with memes, reels and fan theories dissecting its hidden references.
Though some critics felt certain scenes were exaggerated, the consensus is that Aryan delivered a refreshing and self-aware spin on Bollywood storytelling.
