When Ram Charan's wife Upasana Konidela said she doesn't want to have kids for 'population control'

Upasana Konidela: Ram Charan and his wife Upasana Konidela are expecting their first child together, Chiranjeevi announced in a Twitter post on Monday. After tying the knot in 2012, the superstar and his wife have been enjoying marital bliss for over a decade. While many of their counterparts have embraced parenthood, Ram Charan and Upasna refrained from having kids for 10 years. In fact, in an interaction with Sadh Guru, Upasna had revealed that she does not want to have kids.

Upasana Konidela's 'does not want to have kids' statement

Upasana Konidela sat with Sadh Guru for a spiritual chat in which she revealed she does not want to have kids. She said that she has made this decision for population control. Replying to her, Sadhguru said, "Man is worried about carbon footprint but if the human footprint is reduced, there is no need to worry about global warming too. So, it’s good to see women who chose to not reproduce".

'I may deviate from my mission': Ram Charan on having kids

Earlier, in an interview, Upasana had said she has a fear of pregnancy. “Getting pregnant after marriage is my matter. We thought we don’t want kids now. On the other hand, I also have some fears about pregnancy. I am losing weight now. We also have clarity about when to have children," she said.

At the same time, Ram Charan also clarified, “As a son of Mega Star Chiranjeevi, I have the responsibility of making fans happy. If I start a family, I may deviate from my mission. Upasana also has a few goals. So, we decided not to have kids for some years".

Upasana Konidela and Ram Charan are expecting their first chilld. A post shared on Ram Charan's Instagram read: "With the blessings of Shri Hanumanji, we are delighted to share that Upasana and Ram Charan are expecting their first child."
