Who is Andrew Tate and why is social media cancelling him

New Delhi: Andrew Tate, a former professional kickboxer who frequently made misogynistic comments about women online, was banned from Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok in the last week after concerns about his influence on his millions of followers grew.

Tate, 35, rose to prominence after appearing on the reality television show “Big Brother” in 2016. He has since created an online presence in which he claims to know the secrets to wealth and makes derogatory remarks.

Mr. Tate has said that raped women are partly to blame for the attacks, described in detail how he might attack women, and criticised people who seek mental health treatment.

Andrew Tate has appeared in several interviews demeaning women and openly admitting to assaulting them physically. The internet personality also admitted to moving to Romania because police in the country are less likely to investigate sexual assault cases. Tate was also detained for two days after allegedly abusing a woman in the United Kingdom.

These are just a few of the many reasons why the founder of Hustler’s University has received so much backlash online.

As the internet continues to criticise the “king of toxic masculinity,” reports of his home being raided for human trafficking have surfaced.

Over the last week, the controversial internet personality has been barred from using Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and even YouTube. However, in order to deliver his “final message” to his viewers, Tate uploaded a one-hour, 12-minute-long video to the Vimeo platform, in which he was seen addressing his past and discussing how his content had been purposefully clipped without context to cause internet chaos.
