Year Ender 2024: This year has been a great year for Web Series, from much anticipated sequels to fresh stories, this year offered the best of every category. Categorizing this in order of popularity is IMDB's list of the most popular web series of this year.

1. Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar

First on the list is Sanjay Leela Bhansali's debut in the web series world, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. The series explores the lives of "Tawaif" in the red light district of Lahore, Heera Mandi during the India's independence movement. The series starred a whole host of female talent like Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari and Richa Chadha among others. Upon release the series was met with positive reception and praise from the fans for it's cinematography. The series was also in conversations on the internet with it's many moments that went viral, including the Gaja Gamini walk. The series sits at 6.3 rating with 28,000 user ratings.

2. Mirzapur Season 3

Following Heeramandi, is the story of Guddu bhaiya (Ali Fazal) and his rise to the throne of Mirzapur for a third season. Aired in 2018, this series made place in the fan's hearts with it's unhinged dialogues and fun premise. The series was followed up with the equally well received sequel in 2020 with the third dropping in July of this year The season explored the story after Guddu bhaiya conquered the throne in the chess game that played out in the previous season. The much anticipated season received a lot of praise for it's fun element but did receive a lot of lukewarm reviews compared to the previous seasons. Mirzapur currently sits at an IMDB rating of 8.4 with 88,000 user ratings.

3. Panchayat Season 3

Third season of the Jitendra Kumar starrer Panchayat released this year to positive reviews. The series follows the story of Abhishek Tripathi (Jitendra Kumar) as he navigates life as the secretary of a panchayat office in a UP village. Panchayat is an amazon original and features Raghubir Yadav, Chandan Roy, Faisal Malik and Neena Gupta in key roles among others. The series was first aired in 2020 to positive reviews and critical acclaim, which was repeated with it's sequel in 2022. The streak continued with this season as it received positive reviews from everywhere. The series is also rated 9.0 on IMDB with almost 100,000 ratings.

4. Gyaarah Gyaarah

On number fourth is the Fantasy Drama series starring Raghav Juyal, Kritika Kamra and Dhairya Karwa among others. Gyaarah Gyaarah is a fantasy drama series that follows three incidents spread across three decades starting from the 1990s. It explores the story as the events intermingle and story complicates over time. The series is the adaptation of the 2016 Korean drama Signal. Upon release it received positive reviews and currently has an IMDB rating of 8.2 with rating from over 6,000 users.

5. Citadel: Honey Bunny

Coming on number fifth is the Indian spin-off the American series Citadel starring Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra. The spin-off is directed by the director duo Raj and DK, and stars Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu as Honey and Bunny. The story follows Hunny and Bunny as they are pushed in the spy world with their actions catching up with them years later. The series was released to positive reception with viewers praising the story and performances of the cast. The series currently sits at an IMDB rating of 6.2 with the ratings of 7,000 users.

6. Maamla Legal Hai

Next on the list is the Ravi Kishan starrer Netflix series Maamla Legal Hai. Created by Sameer Saxena with Rahul Pandey serving as director, this legal drama follows Visheshwar D. Tyagi and his antics in the Patparganj District Court. The series also features Naila Grrewal, Nidhi Bisht and Anant Joshi among others. The series was released to positive  reviews from the audience and praises for its lighthearted comedy. The series boasts an IMDB rating of 8.0 with 10,000 user ratings.

7. Taaza Khabar Season 2

Bhuvam Bam is back with the season two of his wildly popular web series Taaza Khabar. The series first aired in 2023 and received positive reviews. Taaza Khabar follows the story of a sanitation worker and how his life changes after discovering mysterious powers. The series features Bhuvan Bam in the lead role as Vasant Gawde along with Shriya Pilgaonkar, Shilpa Shukla and others. The series sits with an IMDB rating of 8.1 with 55,000 user ratings. 

8. Murder In Mahim

Murder in Mahim is a 2024 crime drama series based on the book of the same name by Jerry Pinto. It  stars Vijay Raaz, Ashutosh Rana, Shivani Raghuvanshi and Shivaji Satam in key roles. The story follows a police officer and retired journalist as they find themselves investigating a murder case. The series has an IMDB rating of 7.5 with close to 40,000 user ratings.

9. Shekhar Home

The second last entry on this list is the Kay Kay Menon starrer and Ranvir Shorey playing Sherlock Homes and Doctor Watson in this Indian adaptation of Sherlock Holmes. Set in the 1990s Bengal, the series follows the two as they solve mysteries around them. Shekhar Home sits at an IMDB rating of 7.9 with over 11,000 user ratings.

10. The Great Indian Kapil Show

Closing the list is the return of Kapil Sharma to the talk show world with his Netflix show The Great Indian Kapil Show. Announced with the return of Sunil Grover (Dr. Mashoor Gulati) the show features a lot of known faces from Kapil’s talk show journey over the years like Navjot Singh Sidhu, Archana Puran Singh, Sunil Grover, Kiku Sharda, Krushna Abhishek and Rajiv Thakur. The show officially made a comeback in April 2024 and was received with positive reviews. The much anticipated return of Kapil Sharma with his gang sits at an IMDB rating of 6.5 with over 30,000 user ratings.
