Gaza Food Crisis Is Getting Worse
The Gaza food crisis has reached a breaking point. UN reports say parts of Gaza are now facing famine-like conditions. One in five children under five is suffering from severe malnutrition. In July alone, at least 79 people (many of them children) died due to hunger.
According to doctors at Gaza’s Nasser Medical Complex, some children’s arms are as thin as a mother’s thumb. Aid groups say food, clean water, and medicines are in short supply. Even when food is delivered, many victims are too weak to digest it and need medical help, too.
NBC News recently reported what paediatrician Dr. Adi Dandeker witnessed in Gaza. He said children are “starving to death” and urgently need medical treatment. Normal aid isn’t enough. Malnourished children require long-term care, nutrients, and protection from disease. Hospitals are overwhelmed, and medical supplies are nearly gone.
So far, over 60,000 people have died in Gaza, including more than 18,000 children. Entire families have been wiped out. Many neighbourhoods lie in ruins. Without full access to humanitarian aid, experts warn the situation will only get worse.
