YouTuber and winner of Bigg Boss OTT 2, Elvish Yadav, secured bail from a local court in Gautam Buddha Nagar five days after his arrest. He, along with five individuals from Delhi, faced accusations of selling snake venom at rave parties in the National Capital Region. Yadav’s lawyer, Prashant Kumar Rathi, shared that the court also granted bail to two additional accused post Yadav’s release.
Arrest and Charges
On March 17, Noida police apprehended Yadav after summoning him for questioning, adding a section of the NDPS Act to the case. Additionally, IPC sections 284 and 289 were included. He was subsequently remanded to 14-day judicial custody.
Background and Investigation
In November 2023, acting on a tip-off from People for Animals, a BJP-run NGO, the police nabbed five individuals from a banquet hall in Noida Sector 51. During the operation, authorities seized 20ml of snake venom, five cobras, one python, two two-headed snakes, and a rat snake. Subsequent analysis at the forensic science laboratory in Jaipur confirmed the presence of krait venom.
Legal Proceedings
Although Yadav was implicated in the FIR, he evaded arrest until his recent apprehension. However, his legal counsel argued that no substance under the NDPS Act was recovered from him, emphasizing the false nature of the allegations.
Bail Grant and Further Steps
The district court granted Yadav bail upon the furnishing of two sureties of Rs 50,000 each. His lawyer highlighted the completion of further formalities, indicating Yadav’s impending release from custody.
