Alcoholic beverages: Can alcohol be beneficial for health? Misconceptions versus reality

Alcoholic beverages: Alcohol is the commonly used word for ethanol (ethyl alcohol- a chemical substance) present in alcoholic beverages such as beer, hard cider, malt liquor, wines and distilled spirits or liquor. According to the of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) USA when we consume alcohol our body “breaks it down into a chemical called acetaldehyde. Acetaldehyde damages the DNA and prevents your body from repairing the damage.” Once DNA is damaged, a cell starts to grow totally out of control and leads to cancer (tumour). Most of us have witnessed or read about suffering and pain related to cancer. All beverages that contain alcohol are alcoholic beverages.

Alcoholic beverages and misconceptions:

It is a common misconception that when alcoholic beverages are consumed in moderation, they have a good effect on health. Or drinking coffee after consuming alcoholic beverages reduces the chances of cancer. Eating a huge meal rubs off the effect of alcoholic beverages. All these thoughts are baseless. The ultimate truth is that alcoholic beverages heighten chances of cancer.
