Aam Aadmi Party leader Anurag Dhanda has raised questions over healthcare facilities in the country after a social-media post showed patients allegedly waiting overnight outside AIIMS Delhi for OPD services.
Sharing a post by the Delhi Complaint account on X, Dhanda wrote, “देश में मेडिकल सुविधाओं के क्या हालात हैं इसका अंदाज़ा लगाइये”, questioning the condition of medical facilities in the country.

Anurag Dhanda: Patients Allegedly Wait Overnight for OPD
The post shared by Dhanda claimed that patients were being forced to stand in line outside AIIMS from the night for OPD services. It questioned whether patients could receive timely and better treatment amid the reported crowd.
The claim has been circulated on social media and is being used by Dhanda to raise concerns about access to healthcare. The specific circumstances shown in the accompanying video could not be independently verified from the social-media post.
AIIMS Delhi Handles Heavy OPD Footfall
AIIMS Delhi’s official information states that its OPD services operate from the RAK OPD Block and adjoining extended OPD building. General OPD registration is scheduled from 8:30 am to 10:30 am, while consultations continue until 1 pm. Patients are generally seen on a first-come, first-served basis.
Recent reporting has estimated that AIIMS Delhi handles around 14,000–15,000 OPD patients on an average day, highlighting the substantial patient load at the premier government hospital.
AIIMS Has Facility for Overnight-Waiting Patients
AIIMS Delhi had earlier operationalised an Ashray facility for patients and attendants who wait overnight for OPD services. According to Akashvani, the facility provides shelter, food, blankets and hygienic toilets, while patients are issued token numbers to maintain their registration sequence the following day. The facility has a capacity of around 250 people.
