India reports 16,764 new cases of COVID-19, 7,585 recoveries and 220 deaths in the last 24 hours. Active caseload currently stands at 91,361. Recovery Rate currently at 98.36%.
The testing capacity across India continues to be expanded. The last 24 hours saw a total of 12,50,837 tests being conducted. India has so far conducted over 67.78 crore (67,78,78,255) cumulative tests.
India reported 309 fresh Omicron infections, taking the total number of such cases in the country to 1,270, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.
The 1,270 cases have been detected across 23 states and Union Territories so far, and 374 people have recovered or migrated. Maharashtra recording the maximum number of 450 cases followed by Delhi at 320, Kerala 109 and Gujarat 97.
With the administration of 66,65,290 vaccine doses in the last 24 hrs, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage exceeds 144.54 Cr. The recovery rate stands at 98.36%. Weekly positivity Rate at 0.89% remains less than 1% from last 47 days: Union Health Ministry
The countrywide vaccination drive was rolled out on January 16 with healthcare workers getting inoculated in the first phase. The vaccination of frontline workers started from February 2. The next phase of COVID-19 vaccination commenced from March 1 for people above 60 years of age and those aged 45 and above with specified co-morbid conditions. The country launched vaccination for all people aged more than 45 years from April 1. The government then decided expand its vaccination drive to include everyone above 18 from May 1.
