With 50,129 new Covid-19 infections, India's total cases surge to 78,64,811. With 578 new deaths, toll mounts to 1,18,534, the Health Ministry said.

Total 10,25,23,469 samples tested for Covid-19 up to 24th October. Of these, 11,40,905 samples were tested yesterday: Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)

Covid-19 vaccine: Bharat Biotech has said that it expects the its vaccine to be ready by June 2021. It has received nod for conducting late-stage human trials for its vaccine candidate.
The firm has said that it plans to test over 20,000 volunteers across 12-14 states for its vaccine candidate.
Meanwhile, the overall number of global coronavirus cases has topped 42.5 million, while the deaths have soared to more than 1,148,940, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
