Covid-19 update: India reports 37,975 infections, 480 deaths

India reported sharp decline in covid-19 cases with 37,975 fresh infections in last 24-hour. As of now, India's total covid-19 tally stands at 91,77,841.

With 480 news deaths in last 24-hour, the total fatality toll have mounted to 1,34,218. Currently, there are 4,38 667 active cases in the country. The recovery total in India stands at 86,04,9555 with 42,314 more people recuperating from the virus, the latest update from the heath ministry revealed.

A total of 13,36,82,275 samples have been tested for COVID-19 till November 23. Of these, 10,99,545 were tested yesterday: Indian Council of Medical Research.

The recovery rate in the currently stands at 93.68 per cent while the fatality rate is 1.46 per cent.

Delhi accounted for the most number of fatalities as 121 more people died due to virus on Monday. Meanwhile, the city's daily total dropped to 4,400 which is its lowest daily in a week.

Here're some more updates:

*Assam's covid-19 tally rose to 2,11,682 with 169 more people testing positive for the virus on Monday. The death toll currently stands at 975 with one more fatality on Monday.

*Sikkim's death toll crossed 100 as one more person died due to the virus on Modnay.

*Chhattisgarh reported 2,061 fresh COVID-19 cases and 14 fatalities on Monday, pushing the covid tally to 2,25,497 and the death count to 2,746, a health official said.

*To ensure covid-19 guidelines are being followed, cops in Haryana's Gurugram will now attend the wedding ceremonies. According to an order issued by Gurugram police commissioner KK Rao, cops can be host to any wedding in the city without an invitation.

*Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold two virtual meetings to discuss the covid-19 situation on Tuesday. One meeting will be with eight states' chief ministers who are reporting high number of cases while the another meeting will be attended by all the states and UTs wherein the vaccine distribution plan will be discussed.

*Serum Institute of India's CEO Adar Poonawalla said that the company plans to roll out 100 million doses of the covid-19 vaccine developed by Oxford and AstraZeneca by January 2021.

*The Chinese mainland reported 20 new imported Covid-19 cases on Monday, bringing the total number of imported cases to 3,804.

Meanwhile, the overall number of cases global coronavirus cases has now reached 59 million mark, while the total fatality count have surpassed 1.39 million, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
