Covid-19 update: India’s tally crosses 65 lakh mark

India’s coronavirus daily count saw a marginal drop in last 24-hour as the country reported less than 80,000 cases.

According to the latest update from the Health Ministry, 75,829 people tested positive for the infection in last 24-hour. With fresh new additions, the country’s total tally now stands past 65 lakh mark. The death toll have mounted to 1,01782 with 940 fatalities reported in last 24 hours.

Of the 65,49,374 cases, 9,37,625 are active, while 55,09,967 patients have been discharged.

As of Sunday, the overall number of global coronavirus cases has crossed 34.7 million, according to Johns Hopkins University’s report.

The total number of cases stood at 34,791,855 and the fatalities rose to 1,031,528, the University said in its latest update.

*Senior BJD leader and Pipili MLA Pradeep Maharathy, who had tested positive for COVID19, has been put on ventilator support after his health condition deteriorated on Saturday.

*An inspector in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddh Nagar succumbed to COVID19 on Saturday, officials said.

*The recovery rate of COVID19 patients in Bihar jumped to 93.09 percent on Saturday. The state reported fresh 983 cases, taking state’s total toll to 1,86,689.

*Jharkhand’s Minority Welfare Minister Haji Hussain Ansari succumbed to covid-19 while undergoing treatment for COVID-19 on Saturday, news agency PTI said.
