Covid-19 update: India's tally past 8 million mark

India recorded fresh spike of 49,881 covid-19 infection in last 24-hour, taking total tally past 8 million. With 517 fatalities, the death toll now stands at 120,527.

The recoveries have surpassed 73.15 lakh, pushing the national recovery rate to 90.99 per cent, the health ministry's latest update revealed. The COVID-19 case fatality rate has further declined to 1.49 per cent.

Currently, there are 6,03,687 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country which consists of 7.5 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.

Total 10,65,63,440 samples tested for Covid-19 up to 28th October. Of these 10,75,760 samples were tested yesterday: Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)

Delhi, in a first, on Wednesday, reported over 5,000 covid-19 in a span of 24-hour. The national capital has seen sudden spike in covid-19 cases in past few weeks as it continues to report over 4,000 infections. The increase in covid cases in Delhi have raised concern among authorities, specially at a time when caseload in country has shown decline.

*Russia has registered 16,202 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking the cumulative total to 1,563,976.

*All government and private schools in Delhi to remain closed until next order: Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia

Meanwhile, the global tally of coronavirus cases stands at 44,739,905. While 32,702,025 have recovered, 1,178,527 have died so far.
