Covid-19 update: India’s total tally crosses 6.3 million

India witnessed a spike of 86,821 fresh new cases and 1,118 deaths in last 24-hour. With the new additions, the country’s total covid-19 tally stands at 63,12,585. The total fatality count have mounted to 98,678, inching close to 1 lakh mark.

India’s Covid tally reaches 63,94,069 with a spike of 81,484 new cases & 1,095 deaths reported in last 24 hours: Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

The total cases include 9,42,217 active cases, 53,52,078 cured/discharged/migrated, and 99,773 deaths: Minister of Health and Family Welfare.

A total of 7,67,17,728 samples tested for Covid, up to 1st October. Of these, 10,97,947 samples were tested yesterday: ICMR

Covid-19 Vaccine Update:

Second vaccine candidate of Russia passed early clinical trials on Thursday. Russia’s Vektor – a top-secret state virology research centre in Siberia – said early-stage trials were successful for its own experimental vaccine, named EpiVacCorona.

US pharmaceutical company Moderna has said its coronavirus vaccine candidate would not be ready for public use until the spring of next year, Financial Times reported.

Moderna is one of the three vaccines that are undergoing late stage clinical trials in United States.
