Ahead of the third phase of the vaccine rollout that is scheduled to begin from March 1 and will see private centres administering the vaccine doses, the Union Government has announced the price of covid-19 vaccine. One dose of the vaccine has been priced at Rs 250 until further notice.
The National Health Mission said that private hospitals can charge Rs 150 per vaccine dose and Rs 100 as user fees from recipient.
The Centre has earlier announced that around 10,000 private hospitals under Ayushman Bharat PMJAY. More than 600 hospitals under CGHS and other other private hospitals empanelled under State Govts Health Insurance Schemes, the health ministry said in a statement released on Saturday.
The final price is more than what Centre has paid to manufacturers of the vaccine. While Serum Institute of India was paid Rs 200 per dose for Covishield, Government paid Rs 200 for Covaxin.
In the third phase of the vaccination, India will inoculate people aged above 60 years and those over 45 with co morbidities. Beneficiaries will be able to register themselves in advance through Government's CoWIN app or Aarogya Setu app. They can also directly walk-in and register on the spot in any of the private hospitals autohrised by government for administering the vaccine.
