Fatty liver is becoming very common, especially among people in their 40s. Many people think it happens only because of weight gain, but experts say the problem is much deeper. Hormonal imbalance, insulin resistance, inflammation and poor lifestyle habits can all put stress on the liver. When the liver does not function properly, it can affect energy levels, digestion and even blood sugar control.
Health experts also warn that fatty liver should never be ignored after the age of 40. At this stage of life, the body goes through many metabolic and hormonal changes. Because of this, even mild liver problems can lead to bigger health issues if not managed in time.
While sharing a video, nutrition expert Manpreet Kalra explained that fatty liver is often linked with insulin resistance, inflammation and hormonal imbalance, not just weight gain. According to her, the problem can affect both men and women, especially during perimenopause, PCOS or prediabetes, when liver stress becomes higher and symptoms like fatigue and sudden blood sugar swings become more common.
She also shared a simple liver detox water that may help support liver health naturally when taken along with a proper diet and healthy lifestyle.
Fatty Liver After 40: Why Experts Say You Should Not Ignore It
Dt. Manpreet Kalra, who holds a Master’s degree in Nutrition and Public Health from the University of Delhi and Hamburg University, Germany, spoke about fatty liver in one of her YouTube videos.
DON'T MISS
She said, “If you are in your 40s and your doctor has diagnosed you with fatty liver, please don’t ignore it. If you are a woman, it is very important for hormonal balance because the liver helps in removing excess hormones from the body, especially oestrogen. If you are a man, it is equally important because the liver plays a key role in sugar metabolism.”
According to her, when the liver is stressed, it may affect:
- Hormone balance
- Blood sugar levels
- Digestion and metabolism
- Energy levels
- Fat storage in the body
This is why experts suggest taking early steps to support liver function through diet and lifestyle changes.
Simple Detox Drink For Fatty Liver Support
In the video, the expert also shared a simple detox water that may help support liver health when taken daily as part of a balanced diet.
She said, “Start drinking this liver detox water along with a liver-healing diet to see the difference.”
How To Make Liver Detox Water
Follow these simple steps:
- Take a bottle of water.
- Add coriander seeds – they help flush toxins and support bile secretion.
- Add curry leaves – rich in antioxidants that protect liver cells and reduce inflammation.
- Add cumin seeds – help improve digestion and metabolism.
- Add lemon slices – support enzyme production and help break down fat.
She explained, “Let it soak overnight. Strain it the next day and drink it for maximum benefits.”
According to her, this drink is not a magic cure, but it can help support the body when combined with a liver-healing diet, regular movement and proper sleep. Drinking it daily may help improve metabolism, balance hormones and support healthy blood sugar levels over time.
