India has logged in 1,45,384 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24-hour, taking the total tally to 1,32,05,0926. With 794 more deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll has now crossed the Health Ministry said on Saturday.
India is world’s fourth-worst hit country worldwide after the number of active cases rose to 10,46,631. The death toll stood at 1,68,436 the Health Ministry said.
Amid the growing concern of daily cases, many states have been put under weekend lockdowns and night curfew along with stringent covid-19 guidelines.
A total of 77,567 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the number of recoveries to 1,19,90,859 with a recovery rate of 90.80 per cent.
The Health Ministry said that a total of 11,73,219 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. So far, 25,52,14,803 samples have been tested.
A total of 34,15,055 people were vaccinated in the last 24 hours taking the total vaccination count to 9,80,75,160.
The state, worst-hit in India, is headed towards a lockdown if the situation does not change, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope had earlier said.
In Delhi, all schools and colleges have been shut till further notice, the Arvind Kerjiwal government announced on Friday. Madhya Pradesh too has announced restrictions in cities till Monday. Bengaluru and six other cities in Karnataka have also enforced a night curfew till April 20.
