India adds 38,948 new COVID-19 cases, Kerala adds 26,701 infections

India has reported 38,948 new cases in the last 24-hour, taking the overall caseload to 3,30,27,621, as per the latest update from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. In the same time span, the country also recorded 219 fresh deaths, taking the overall number of fatalities to 4,40,752. With 43,903 more people recovering from the deadly disease, the overall number of recoveries has reached 3,21,81,995, the Ministry added. 

The daily positivity rate in the country stands at 2.76 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate stood at 2.58 per cent. The daily and weekly positivity rate has remained below 3 per cent for 91 and 73 days respectively. 

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, cumulative samples tested in the country till September 5 is at 53,14,68,867 with 14,10,649 samples being tested in the last 24 hours.

India has administered a total of 25,23,089 vaccine doses in the past 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 68,75,41,762. 

Meanwhile, as the supply issue of Covid vaccine is being sorted out, authorities push to inoculate have yielded good results in Karnataka. In Bengaluru, more than one crore doses, and in the state 4.5 crore doses have been administered till date. In yet another achievement, the entire eligible population of Himachal Pradesh has received the first dose of vaccination against Covid-19. To commemorate the landmark achievement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday would interact with healthcare workers and vaccine beneficiaries of the mountain state.
