India reportes 1,225 new Covid-19 cases and 28 deaths in last 24 hours

India has reported 1,225 new Covid-19 cases and 28 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Union health ministry said on Thursday. Active caseload in the country has fallen to 14,307. The Union health ministry data showed active cases declined to 14,704, comprising 0.03 per cent of the total infections.

The recovery rate is currently at 98.75 per cent, the ministry said, adding that the daily positivity rate was at 0.22 per cent. Over 183.73 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far in the country, according to the Co-WIN dashboard.

Meanwhile, in a related development, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) will meet on Thursday to discuss the Covid-19 situation in the national capital in the backdrop of the Centre’s advise earlier this month to states and UTs to consider discontinuing containment measures in view of the sharp decline in the fresh cases, according to news agency PTI report.

Just last month, the DDMA lifted all Covid restrictions in the wake of significant improvement in the Covid situation in the city. However, wearing of masks in public places, including buses and metro trains continued. The DDMA meeting to be held at 3.30 pm on March 31 will be chaired by Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal.
