Noida News: For more than three months, the residents of Sector 29 Brahmaputra Apartments in Noida have been receiving foul-smelling, muddy water in their taps. Housing mostly veterans from the Indian Army, the Noida Society gets water supply that often features live worms wriggling out of water taps.
The society residents decided to opt for testing the quality and hygiene of the water supply. Their worst fears were confirmed when it was revealed that the level of bacteriological contamination made the water highly unfit for human consumption.

Noida News-Presence Of Coliform Bacteria
Reports from a Delhi-based government-approved testing facility revealed that coliform bacteria were detected in the collected water samples from the Sector 29 Brahmaputra Apartments.
Reaction Of Society RWA
Head of the area’s Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA), Geeta Gumbeer remarked that the society face such disgusting water spells every now and then. However, things went out of control this time and repeated complaints to the water supply department did not brought any amicable resolution. The RWA Head added many residents in the society had to be hospitalized after they were diagnosed with severe diarrhoea.
Gumbeer also commented that it looks like the society residents would head the Indore way where many people died and severely hospitalized after sewer water got mixed with water supply for city’s residents
With no resolution in sight, a significant majority of residents have opted for the installation of water filters on the primary supply line. This helps them trap larger particles in the water supply. After this, they follow water cleansing with RO filtration and boiling.
In recent times, many complaints have been raised by residents across Noida and Greater Noida. Many residents in Alpha 2 and Delta 1 sectors were rushed to hospitals after they consumed contaminated water.
In January, suo motu cognizance in multiple states of water contamination complaints was taken by the National Green Tribunal (NGT).
