In line with the Punjab government's directives, a special training session was organized under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sahni, where Civil Surgeon Dr. Kirandeep Kaur trained all medical officers of the Aam Aadmi Clinics on maternal health services.

Now Free Pregnancy Tests, Medicines, and Ultrasound at Aam Aadmi Clinics in Punjab

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sahni said that pregnant women will now receive free medical checkups, diagnostic tests, and treatment at Aam Aadmi Clinics. This initiative aims to make maternal healthcare more accessible and affordable for women across Punjab.

Civil Surgeon Dr. Kirandeep Kaur informed that a specialized training is being provided to all doctors at the Aam Aadmi Clinics, focusing on maternal health. The training includes guidelines for identifying and treating high-risk pregnancies, such as cases of anemia, hypertension, diabetes, previous cesarean delivery, twin pregnancies, and other complex medical conditions.

With this upgrade in services, pregnant women will now be able to access antenatal care near their homes

"The main objective is to reduce maternal mortality cases in the state by empowering frontline doctors with essential skills and knowledge," said Dr. Kaur.

With this upgrade in services, pregnant women will now be able to access antenatal care near their homes, eliminating the need to travel long distances for routine checkups or emergency care. All tests, medicines, and ultrasound scans will be provided free of cost at these clinics.

This move is seen as a major step in strengthening grassroots healthcare infrastructure and improving maternal and child health outcomes in Punjab.

Officials noted that this initiative is part of the broader mission of the Punjab Government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to revolutionize public healthcare. By integrating maternal care into the existing Aam Aadmi Clinics, the government aims to reduce the burden on tertiary hospitals and ensure early detection and management of pregnancy-related complications. Moreover, healthcare workers at these clinics will maintain detailed digital records to track the health status of expecting mothers throughout their pregnancy. This step is expected to significantly improve maternal and neonatal health indicators across rural and urban areas alike.
