Skin Cancer: We all know sunscreen protects us from the sun. But what if the sunscreen you use daily could also harm your skin and body in the long run? Shocking, right? Most people apply sunscreen without even thinking twice. The truth is, not all sunscreens are safe, and choosing the wrong one may increase long-term risks instead of preventing them. If you care about your skin and overall health, this is something you must understand.

Skin Cancer Alert: What Doctor Tarang Krishna Says About Sunscreens

Cancer healer and doctor Tarang Krishna, who has over 531K Instagram followers, shared an important reminder about sunscreen and its connection to Skin Cancer. He says that whether you are at the beach, travelling, or staying at home, you should never skip sunscreen. Even one day without protection is risky. But at the same time, he warns that applying too much sunscreen and choosing the wrong one can also be harmful.

He explains that sunscreen protects skin and DNA from UV rays. These rays damage the skin and are a major cause of Skin Cancer. So not using sunscreen at all can be extremely dangerous. But the real danger lies in picking the wrong formula.

Dr Krishna highlights that chemical sunscreens like oxybenzone and octinoxate absorb UV rays but can also get absorbed into your bloodstream. They may disturb hormones and cause long-term health effects. That is a scary thought for something we apply so casually every day.

What Should You Use Instead?

His solution is to simply switch to mineral sunscreen. These formulas include zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. They sit on top of the skin like a shield, instead of being absorbed, and are considered safer (even for kids). He also advises choosing sunscreens that do not damage your body’s natural antioxidants.

Dermatologists worldwide support this advice. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, mineral sunscreens are ideal for sensitive skin and are less likely to cause irritation. And the Environmental Working Group (EWG) also warns that chemical filters like oxybenzone may disrupt hormones.

On top of that, the World Health Organisation (WHO) notes that UV exposure is a major risk factor for Skin Cancer. So sunscreen is non-negotiable, but choosing the right one matters even more.

Sunscreen is essential. But the wrong sunscreen may do more harm than good. Mineral sunscreen offers safe and strong protection without chemical risks. So next time you shop, read the label, look for zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, and protect your skin in the safest way possible.
