Ayurvedic power: Ayurveda, that originated in India more than 5,000 years ago, uses natural remedies, including herbs, oils, and diet, to promote healing and prevent illness. Ayurveda has many options when it comes to detoxing.

It’s important to detox because toxins that build up in the body over time, can contribute to a wide range of health problems. Besides serious health issues, toxins can also make your skin look lifeless.

In summer months, excessive heat, humidity, and exposure to environmental pollutants makes the skin appear dull, oily, and congested. You can combat the problem by incorporating Ayurvedic foods and herbs into your diet and skincare routine.  Here we bring to you foods and drinks that can help you detox in the summer season. You can easily make them at home and detoxify your skin to leave it refreshed and rejuvenated.

Turmeric

Turmeric is proven to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It helps to detoxify the skin by reducing inflammation. It improves complexion and helps in the healing of skin tissues. You can include turmeric in your diet or apply a turmeric paste on your skin for a rejuvenating effect.

Neem

Antibacterial and anti-fungal properties make neem an excellent herb for detoxifying the skin. It cleanses the skin, unclogs pores and prevent acnes breakouts. You can use neem oil or neem powder in your skincare routine to detoxify your skin.

Amla

High in antioxidants and Vitamin C, Amla or Indian Gooseberry helps to detoxify the skin and promote collagen production. It helps to rejuvenate the skin and gives it a healthy glow. You can have amla juice or its powder. You can also apply amla oil on your skin for maximum benefits.

Triphala

A combination of three Ayurvedic herbs – Amalaki, Bibhitaki, and Haritaki, Triphala is known for its detoxifying properties and helps cleanse the digestive system. This promotes healthy skin. Have Triphala in the form of powder or capsules.

Coriander/Dhaniya

Found in every India kitchen, coriander is a popular herb that helps to detoxify the skin by flushing out toxins from the body. Its antioxidant properties help to neutralize free radicals and promote clear and healthy skin.

Add coriander in your diet as garnishing or make a detox drink by blending coriander leaves with water and consuming it daily.

Sandalwood

Sandalwood is a popular Ayurvedic herb that is soothing on the skin. It helps to reduce inflammation, cleanse the skin, and improve complexion. Use sandalwood powder mixed with water or rose water as face pack.
