To start with the real trendsetter of Bikinis in India, the first name that comes to people’s minds is Sharmila Tagore. Yes, you heard it right! One of the most famous veteran actresses Sharmila Tagore was also one of the firsts to wear a proper bikini. The Daag actress, who was popular for her chemistry with former actor Rajesh Khanna, wore this blue swimsuit in the 1967 film ‘An Evening in Paris.’ Apart from that she was also captured in a printed bikini for a magazine photoshoot. After her, the caravan for Bikinis or swimsuits came into the eyes of people.
Bikini Trends: 1970s and 1980s Dimple Kapadia, Zeenat Aman Parveen Babi’s Charm
In the 1970s Bollywood Divas started taking Bikini a little into their thought process. Dum Maro Dum actress Zeenat Aman was popular for her bold avatars, she wore this outfit for her film Heera Panna. Apart from her, veteran actor Rajesh Khanna’s wife and Dil Chahta Hai actress Dimple Kapadia stunned the Indian audience when she appeared in a sizzling red bikini for another 1973 film Bobby. By the end of the 2010s, there was not a particular trend that was being followed but everyone was wearing styles suitable for their body type.
