From Aamras to Aam Panna, check out five ways to consume mango this summer

The season of mangoes is back and the reason to love summer is that people get to eat mangoes. Mango is frequently referred to as the "King of Fruits" in India, and for good reason. Mangoes are a staple in Indian cuisine and culture and India is the world's top mango producer. This summer, try these five ways to consume mango this summer;

Aamras

Aamras is a sweet, creamy mango pulp that is very well-liked in western India, particularly in the states of Gujarat and Maharashtra. Ripe mangoes are peeled, combined with sugar, and a dash of cardamom powder to produce it. As a dessert or with puri (fried bread), aamras is typically served chilled.

Mango Lassi

India is home to the refreshing and healthy beverage known as mango lassi. It is prepared by blending yoghurt, sugar, fresh or frozen mango pulp, and a small amount of cardamom powder. The beverage is typically topped with chopped nuts or mint leaves and served chilled.

Mango Pickle

A common condiment in many Indian homes is mango pickle, which is spicy and sour. Unripe mangoes are chopped into small pieces and combined with salt, turmeric, red chilli powder, and other spices to form this dish. After that, the mixture is placed in an airtight container and let to ferment for a few days. Typically, rice or roti are served with mango pickle as a side dish.

Mango Shrikhand

In western India, particularly in the state of Gujarat, mango shrikhand is a preferred dessert. It is a creamy and delectable treat. It is made by combining sugar, saffron, and mango pulp with strained yoghurt (hung curd). After cooling, the mixture is topped with chopped nuts and chunks of fresh mango.

Aam Panna

Aam panna is a common Indian drink made from unripe mangoes. It is a cool drink that is also nourishing, making it ideal for hot summer days. Many regions of India, notably the northern states where the summers may be very stifling, are fond of aam panna.
