The Ayush Ministry has launched a new campaign to promote the health benefits of Shatavari, a powerful medicinal plant. Following the success of previous campaigns for Amla, Moringa, Giloy, and Ashwagandha, the government is now focusing on Shatavari to enhance public health, particularly women's well-being.
Ayush Ministry's Special Campaign for Shatavari
The campaign, titled "Shatavari – For Better Health," was introduced by Prataprao Jadhav, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Ayush, on Thursday. During the launch, Jadhav stressed the importance of Shatavari in achieving the Panch Pran Goal, a vision set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for India's development by 2047.
Jadhav highlighted that Shatavari is known for its medicinal properties, particularly in supporting women’s health. The initiative aims to create awareness about its benefits and encourage its widespread use.
Shatavari's Health Benefits
The National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB) has played a crucial role in this initiative. Over the years, the Ayush Ministry has worked to popularise the use of medicinal plants, and this campaign is another step in that direction.
According to Dr. Mahesh Kumar Dadhich, CEO of NMPB, Shatavari is especially beneficial for women’s reproductive health, hormonal balance, and overall immunity. He also pointed out its economic potential, as it can be cultivated for both medicinal and commercial purposes.
Beyond supporting hormonal balance, healthy menstrual cycles, and fertility, Shatavari aids digestion by relieving ulcers and acidity. It strengthens the immune system, helps manage stress, and reduces inflammation. Additionally, it can boost breast milk production and may even help combat severe gastric ulcers. This versatile herb offers comprehensive support for women's well-being.
Government Support for Shatavari Awareness
To boost the success of this campaign, the government has announced financial assistance of Rs 18.9 lakh for eligible organisations. This support will help in promoting Shatavari’s benefits and encouraging its adoption in the healthcare sector.
A Step Towards a Healthier Nation
With this new initiative, the Ayush Ministry is taking another step towards holistic health and well-being. By encouraging the use of Shatavari, the government aims to enhance public health awareness and promote natural remedies for a healthier future.
