Vastu Tips: When planning the interior of the house, certain things need to be kept in mind before deciding on the colour palette. According to Vastu, certain layout styles impact the energy flow in the space. The right kind of layout geometry causes a balance between the natural and the man-made, resulting in good luck, health, wealth and love.

What do colours indicate in Vastu Shastra?

Vastu Shastra also lays out colour principles for our home spaces for positive energies to enter our homes and bless our lives. The home colours should indicate the balance of the 5 elements, fire, water, earth, space and air.

Living Room

According to Vastu Shastra, light shades of blue, brown, yellow, white or pink can be chosen. The colour can have a warm or cool tone, as long as they are not dark. Light colours bring peace and serenity.

Bedroom

For north-facing rooms, pick a shade of green or blue. Whereas, for south-facing rooms, pick a shade of yellow or orange. These colours bring tranquillity.

Bathroom

The bathrooms are advised to be kept in cool tones instead of warm. Therefore, colours such as white, pink, grey or blue are recommended. This keeps the overall look spacious and builds a positive mood.

Kitchen

Colours like yellow, orange and green depict appetite and are recommended for the Kitchen, where the Annapurna Goddess resides.

Balcony

For the balcony, light shades of pink are apt, as they invoke positivity from the balcony, into the home.

Kids Room

According to Vastu Shastra, a green-coloured kids room brings the most positivity and health for the child. Therefore, painting walls green or having a green-coloured interior is suggested. It symbolises growth and prosperity for the child.
