Ashish Chanchlani, one of India’s most loved YouTubers, surprised everyone with his massive weight loss. He lost nearly 40 kilos in under six months. At his heaviest, he was close to 130 kg. Today, he maintains a weight between 88 and 92 kg. What’s inspiring is that he did it without any crash diets or fancy gym memberships. Just a simple plan, strong discipline, and a real understanding of food and fitness.

In an interview with HT, Ashish said the moment came when he looked in the mirror and felt unhappy. He used to avoid full-body shots in his videos and wore extra clothes to hide his stomach. As he neared 30, he promised himself that he would get fit before his birthday.

The Diet That Worked Magic From Ashish Chanchlani In His Weight Loss Journey

Ashish didn’t follow a strict or extreme diet. He focused on eating fewer calories than he burned - this is called a calorie deficit diet. His meals were high in protein and fibre, with healthy fats. He ate carbs too, but in smaller amounts.

His diet included about 150 to 160 grams of protein daily. Breakfast was eggs (boiled or in an omelette), then sprouts, and chicken for lunch and dinner. He also had a whey protein shake in the afternoon.

And yes, he still enjoyed sweets! Once a week, he would treat himself to gulab jamun or rasmalai. He said, “I indulged but compensated” He did this by adjusting his meals to balance it out.

Ashish worked out for up to four hours a day. His routine had running, cycling, bodyweight exercises, and even battle ropes. He didn’t skip leg day and pushed through tough ab workouts, even though he hated them.

A big motivator was Shah Rukh Khan. At a party, SRK casually told Ashish to lose weight, and he took the advice seriously. He also made motivational wallpapers for his phone with reminders like: “See this and tell yourself to take your diet seriously.”

He also dreamed of having a body like Captain America, which kept him focused.

How You Can Do It Too!

Eat in a calorie deficit: Don’t starve, just eat slightly less than your body needs.

Add more protein and fibre: They help you stay full and build muscle.

Have cheat meals: But balance them by cutting back elsewhere.

Work out at home: Bodyweight moves and cardio are enough if done consistently.

Watch sneaky calories: Even a few nuts can add up fast.

Stay patient: It will take time, give yourself atleast two years.
