​What Can You Do To Prevent Migraines? Expert’s Advice on Lifestyle Factors for Preventing Migraine

Dr. Priyanka Sehrawat, neurologist at AIIMS Delhi, shares practical strategies to identify triggers and strengthen your defense against migraines, offering a roadmap to fewer flare-ups and more pain-free days.

Lifestyle Factors That Trigger Migraines

In her Instagram handle, the “SabkiSehat” health campaign founder, Dr. Priyanka Sehrawat, says that migraine have some recurrent tendencies. Medicines can prevent those factors or cure migraines only by 50%. But for the remaining 50%, you will have to be proactive in eliminating your migraine triggers.  

In her migraine prevention tips, she suggests having a regular mealtime, especially breakfast. She suggests not having tea on an empty stomach and avoiding digital devices for at least 2 hours before sleep.

To avoid stress, she suggests taking at least a 30-minute regular walk, Practicing Yoga, or participating in Zumba. The neurologist also advises using an umbrella and shades to avoid direct sunlight, which is a common migraine trigger.

​Preventive Lifestyle Measures

Apart from the advice of the expert, there are a few other things you can do to reduce your chances of migraine. Often, maintaining regularity in your sleep cycle, staying properly hydrated, and eating a balanced diet helps with the cure. You can listen to soothing music or practice mindfulness to reduce stress before sleep.
