Ayodhya Ram Mandir: Monday, January 22, 2024, is a significant day that will live on in history. Ramlala is going to live in his opulent home today, after 500 years. For years, every devotee of Ram awaited this day. The earth is a joyful place today.

Auspicious 84 Seconds

The idol of Ramlala will be dedicated today in the Ayodhya Ram Mandir. There will be 84 seconds Muhurat in total during this Pran Pratistha's auspicious period. Ultimately, what is the purpose of consecrating idols and what considerations need to be made? We will tell you all about it today.

As per the Vedic customs, prior to the installation of god idols in a temple, the deities are traditionally consecrated. Pran Pratishtha is the process by which Brahmins who are knowledgeable about the Vedas repeat mantras to awaken the idol of the deity. An idol is regarded as worshipable once it has been dedicated. The idol is not venerable unless it is dedicated.

Types Of Pran Pratishtha

Chal Pran Pratishtha: According to the scriptures, Chal Pran Pratishtha is done to the idols made of sand and clay. On the auspicious festival of Chal Pran, a tableau of the revered idols can be taken out and they can also be immersed.

Achal Pran Pratishtha: In Achal Pran Pratishtha, once the idol is consecrated, it cannot be moved from there. It is said in the scriptures that the idols which are installed in the temple have eternal life consecration. Once the idol is consecrated, it is never removed from there. It is installed at the place where the idol gets permanent consecration. Achal Pran Pratistha includes metal idols or idols made of stone.

Some important rules of Pran Pratistha

  • In Sanatan Dharma, the idol's consecration is very important. An idol cannot be worshipped or deemed worthy of worship until it is consecrated.
  • As per the worship protocol, an idol shall be consecrated within the same auspicious time as defined by the idol's manner of worship.
  • Proper consecration of the idol by a Brahmin who has studied the best Vedas is required. Additionally, the idol needs to be blindfolded before to dedication.
  • After the idol has been consecrated, it should be worshipped at the designated hour each day.
  • During the puja, those who consecrate the Yajman idol ought to accompany Yama Nimay.
