The joy of the festival turned into mourning due to the stampede in Tirupattur, Tamil Nadu. Four elderly women lost their lives due to chaos during the ceremony. Apart from these, 11 people are said to be seriously injured in the stampede. According to the news received from the police, on the occasion of Thaipusam festival in Vaniyambadi on Saturday, a person was distributing tokens of free sarees. A huge crowd of people gathered here to take these tokens. When all these people were competing for the token, at the same time there was a stampede, in which 4 women died.
4 women killed, many injured
On this incident, the police says that due to getting the sarees soon, the women were continuously moving forward and then the situation worsened there and there was a stampede. Many people were hurt in this accident and they were seriously injured, who have been admitted to the nearest hospital. According to the information received from the police, about one thousand women had reached the function. During this, there was a sudden stampede in which 4 women lost their lives while many women got injured. All the injured have been admitted to the hospital.
2 lakh each to the families of the deceased women
Regarding the accident, Tirupattur SP has said that "We are thoroughly investigating this matter and action will be taken according to the law. Permission was not given to organize this program, our investigation is going on".
Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin expressed his regret as soon as he got the news of the accident. The CM has announced to give Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the women who lost their lives in the accident. Along with this, the Chief Minister has given instructions to provide proper treatment to the injured.
